In the summer of 2011 we took our wedding photography to the next level by offering our clients wedding videography as an addition to their wedding photography package.  My goal as a wedding photographer is to capture the beautiful emotions that exist between a couple on the most amazing day of their lives.  Until now we have used only  photography to accomplish that goal.  Now, newly released audio and video equipment has given us the ability to capture the most beautiful wedding moments in a new, unobtrusive way that was never before possible.  The evolution of wedding photography is Video.  The addition of wedding video to your photography package is the absolute best way to capture the magnificence of your wedding day.  You want to hold on to that day forever, all of the sights and sounds; the music that played as you walked down the aisle and the heartfelt words from loved ones… and now you can.  Take a look at the videos below and you will see why our clients are adding wedding videography to their special day.

I can’t say enough amazing things about working with Preston. He was super easy to work with and very flexible. We just had our engagement photos with Preston a few weeks ago. It was great! I came up with the place, the classic spot of the Stone Arch Bridge, and he knew exactly where to go to get great shots! I now wish I would have picked a different spot just because I do realize how many other people usually pick that same spot… poor Preston, always having to shoot to the same spot. But, with that being said, he did a GREAT job of making our engagement pictures not look like anyone else’s. Ours still turned out unique and artistic, just the way I wanted them and my number one requirement for a photographer. A solid photographer was my number one request for our wedding events, and we got one!

Now, my fiance on the other hand, was not looking forward to taking pictures, and a wedding photographer was on the bottom of his list. He thought we could have just anyone take our pictures… some boys, I tell ya! Well, you know what they say, happy wife, happy life! I got my way, so my fiance had to come along for pictures. He was really glad he did because he had a FANTASTIC time and raved about it for days after. Him and Preston hit it off right away! We had soooooooo much fun! Preston knew exactly where to take us, how to direct us for each shot, keep us laughing and in high spirits the whole time. My fiance and I are both very excited to take more pictures for our wedding and work with Preston again!

Brovado is the studio name for Preston and his wife who does a lot of the photo editing. We can’t say how happy we are with our wedding AND engagement photos from Brovado Weddings. I found Preston on Facebook and I knew he was going to be my wedding photographer. Every time I would look through his wedding photos, I just felt excited for the people in the photos. Some made me laugh and some made me cry. They convey the emotion of the event and are exciting to look at. Every image is a memory. I live in North Dakota and I just wasn’t satisfied with what I was finding here. I couldn’t wait to meet Preston and get started. Nothing but the BEST! My fiancé and I were engaged for a little over a year. That gave me plenty of time to talk to lots of different people about what they wish they’d done/done differently. Not kidding, EVERYONE I asked told me they wished they had either sought out a better photographer or budgeted more money for photography. That made sense to me because, and I know this sounds cheesy, but the event only lasts one day but I’ll have the pictures forever.  So… I started looking at brochures I’d gotten at various wedding fairs, looking at websites online, etc, etc, etc. and came up with a list of photographers I was interested in. Anxious to get the ball rolling, I set up an appointment with a woman from a nationwide wedding photography company. My mom and I met with her on a Saturday morning at a local coffee shop and were BLOWN away.  She showed us fairytale images, luxurious coffee table albums and a variety of photography packages to choose from. This company was unique in that they have an inventory of photographers and assigns a couple about 100 days before the event based on how they respond to a series of 100 or so different images. We were sold. We checked photography off the To-Do list and moved onto other big decisions. But, when the 100 day countdown came around and we were assigned a photographer, Nick and I panicked. Our photographer’s portfolio was far less enticing than the beautiful pictures we saw in the model albums. Sure, we’d have a gorgeous coffee table album, the image rights and more… but the pictures themselves wouldn’t be anything special. We immediately asked for a reassignment and were met with resistance, more quizzes, etc. So I said, nope, forget it and requested a refund. I’d been told by too many people that I should NOT “settle” on just any photographer… SO… the search began, again. I searched site after site. And with only three months until a June wedding, I was quite discouraged. I can’t remember where I found Preston except that it was on a website that simply listed a TON of wedding photographers in the area and I started from the top. Yep, I went through them all. If the listing had a link to a website, I checked it out. Of all the inquires I sent, I’d liked Brovado’s the most. So imagine my excitement when one of the two responses I received was from Preston, just an hour later! Brovado’s website felt so unique, and not your average “(first-name last-name) Photography”. The website had a modern feel with TONS of stunning wedding pictures. And they were all so unique! It was clear that this guy was in the right field. Preston sent me some information, explained that he was in Hawaii and asked if we’d like to set up an interview via phone. Within the next day or so, he called and spoke with Nick, myself and my mom. We made the decision while still on the phone with him and sent in our deposit! I am SO glad we didn’t settle. The nationwide consultant did a great job on selling us on the amenities, but the image quality just wasn’t anywhere close to what we’d wanted. And now that the Big Day is over, we are SO glad we went with Brovado Weddings! The day was a BLAST and we’ll get to remember it forever with these wonderful wedding photos! The biggest problem we ran into with Preston was choosing our favorites… There are SO many! We’ve literally got over 300 saved in our favorites folder and have no idea how we’re going to narrow it down when it’s time to print! …A great problem to have! Preston was so easy to work with and was so enthusiastic about getting THE shot. He even climbed part of a water tower… and when that didn’t get him high enough, he started climbing the outside of the cage! Psh, not to mention he came to photograph the rehearsal dinner! I’m sure anyone else would be hard-pressed to find someone who does that! I took the advice everyone gave me really seriously. I remember it being such a shock to me that everyone regretted the same thing! I am so glad we chose Brovado Weddings!

Brovado Made My Day!!! I planned my Minneapolis wedding from my home in California so I was completely at the mercy of my vendors… which is why I loved Brovado Weddings and Preston. Our daughter has known Preston since the summer of 2001 when they were both on a mission trip to Botswana for a month.  Preston really impressed her with his photojournalism back then & she has stayed in touch with him over the years.  When Kari found out that Preston was doing wedding photography she always knew that she would love to have him take pictures at her wedding some day, if possible. Soon after Kari & Tyler got engaged in 2010 she contacted Preston about her wedding date and it was the only date he had open for the entire summer of 2011. Needless to say our daughter was very excited & knew it was meant to be to have Preston be their wedding photographer. Preston puts such passion, creativity & enthusiasm into his work & he is such a pleasure to be around. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.  Preston has such a way to help the whole wedding party relax & enjoy the entire picture taking process. He made the day really fun for everybody involved. It was an outdoor wedding & the weather was fine in the morning but a front moved in & it was starting to drizzle just before the ceremony but our daughter was able to keep her cool, I think partly because Preston was sooo excited about the photos of all of the umbrellas etc. The rain didn’t ruin the day; it just put an interesting twist to it & made for some very unique photos. Whenever we saw something cute or photo-worthy throughout the wedding day, we would look at Preston & he would say “I already got it”. That happened many times throughout the day. Brovado Weddings shot my 2005 outdoor wedding at my family’s summer home. The natural lighting was beautiful and Preston took incredible shots of the wedding party up against the backdrop of the Mississippi River. When it came time to shoot photos of just us, Preston made the experience relaxed and easy – my husband does not like getting his picture taken but Preston set him at ease. The entire day and night of the wedding was captured perfectly and I didn’t even know about most of the shots he took until he shared the photos with me later – it was like a delayed wedding gift!
